Online Catalogs
ETC made the move towards online interactive catalogs in 2008 and was the first company to do so. By December 2010 we will began publishing our catalogs exclusively online. Since the beginning of the company, ETC has been making every effort to be "green". We were the first company who used inks that did not contain V.O.C. We were also the first company to use paper that contained a minimum of 30% PCW and was FSC certified. With this in mind, most magazines are printed on coated, ground wood paper, which is the same kind of paper used for newspapers. The most common coating is clay. Clay smoothes the paper's surface and creates an optimum surface to which glossy inks can adhere. A two-sided coated paper sheet in a magazine normally will have 30 percent to 35 percent clay and filler, and 65 percent to 70 percent paper fiber content.
In 1998, approximately 66 billion magazines were distributed in the United States. Of these, approximately 66 percent went to subscribers, 17 percent were sold as single-issue sales and 15 percent were returned as unsold. Almost half of the single-issue sales occur in grocery stores.
Catalogs also are printed primarily on coated, ground wood paper. Most catalogs are distributed through the mail. Fourteen billion catalogs were mailed in 1998. More recent data is not available. U.S. EPA data for magazines does not include catalogs.
The average person uses 16.7 lb of magazines per year. This doesn't include catalogs.
Of those magazines only 470,000 tons are recycled.
Using recycled paper to create catalogs is a difficult process. The coated papers that are used for printing catalogs are manufactured in a very exacting process in which a thin coating is placed on the fiber base. Many catalogs today are not printed on recycled paper. Magazines and catalogs can be composted if shredded properly. But, the clay coating will resist composting. Burning coated paper creates more ash than burning other types of paper.
Online magazines, on the other hand, do not require paper. Currently trends in consumer purchasing habits are leading to increased production and distribution of catalogs. However, online shopping does not require printed catalogs. ETC is committed to minimizing the impact that the printing business has on the environment.

Credit Cards Accepted
We currently accept all type of major credit cards including MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, American Express Busines, Diners Club and JCB.
Do you accept American Express Cards?
We understand that many schools are privately owned. Many business owners have realized the benefits of owning an American Express card. From the very beginning ETC Montessori partnered with American Express to offer our clients the freedom of choice. We are happy to be able to say that all types of American Express cards are currently welcomed.
My Credit Card is on my faxed order. Do you have a secure fax line?
Yes our secure fax line (281-253-9901) is an actual fax machine and not an e-fax. All documents faxed through this number will be picked up by our accounts depatment staff.
What carrier do you use for shipping?
All of our products are shipped using FedEx as our carrier of choice.
Why do you use FedEx?
Currently of all the carriers that are available in the marketplace, FedEx has shown to be the best, most reliable, quickest (3-5 day shipping period), and has the most trouble free record. For this reason, we have contracted with FedEx Ground, FedEx Express and FedEx International to handle all our shipments.
What happens if my shipment is damaged or lost?
Although this usually doesn't happen, if you do not receive your package within the allotted time, please call our shipping department through our central number (877.409.2929 ext. 2). We will be happy to track your shipment, and locate it.
However, if your package is lost, we will also make all the negotiations with FedEx, handle all of the paperwork, and in the meantime we will shipped out a replacement package to you.
What is included in your shipping and handling charges?
ETC takes pride not only in making the products we sell, but also making sure that you receive them in an excellent condition. For this reason, every time you open a package you will find that it has been inspected prior to leaving our facility. Each package will also carry the signature of the person who picked your order and the date it was inspected, prior to leaving our facility.
Our shipping costs include, not only the boxes, and packaging supplies, but insurance in the event something is damaged or lost. Each one of our packages carries the assurance that if something does go wrong, you are only a phone call away from getting a replacement. You will never have to deal with FedEx or any negotiations for getting reimbursed. ETC will handle the entire proceedure from start to finish.
What is your return policy?
All of us at ETC Montessori are dedicated to providing all our customers with the highest level of customer service and want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase. We understand that, at times, returns happen, and our policy is that you have a right to do so, no questions asked. If you do need to return any items please let us know within 30 days of the shipment of your order, by calling 877.409.2929 ext. 1. All returned items must be in saleable condition, and must be insured since you are responsible for all items invoiced.
Please return items to:
ETC Montessori
Attn: Returns RMA: #(number provided to you)
603 Chedworth Dr.
Suite 102
Houston, TX 77062
Please include a copy of your packing slip, or your name, address, invoice number, item number and description of the product(s) being returned, and the reason for your return.
Do I need an RMA#?
Yes. Prior to returning an item you must call us in order to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA #). Without this number we will not be able to properly refund an item. The RMA# will correspond to your invoice or P.O.
Do you charge a restocking fee?
Normall we do not charge a restocking fee. We do ask though that any and all items you return be in re-saleable condition, and packaged in a way that will protect them. Should you fail to meet these requirements and we receive the items in a way that cannot be sold again, then you will be charged a 20% restocking fee.
Do you refund shipping costs?
Unfortunately, we are not able to refund your shipping costs.
If you have purchased your items at a conference and you received free shipping, when returning parts or all of the order, you will be refunded the cost of the items minus the cost of the shipping that you would have been charged to begin with.
Please note that when returning items to us, it is your responsibility to insure the items being shipped back to us. Until we have the items in our possession and the return has been processed, you own those items.
How long before I get my refund?
If your order was placed using a credit card, refunds usually take place within 2-5 days.
If your order was placed and paid using a check, refunds will require the creation of a check. Our accounting department cuts checks on a two week cycle.
